My hope is to co-create a writing space that provides structure, motivation, resources, and literary and emotional sustenance.

Who am I?

Hi, I'm Joss. I'm a novelist and university professor.

I teach fiction at Columbia University in both the undergraduate and graduate departments.

I am an open and empathic reader of fiction, non-fiction, and poetry and have helped writers of all experience levels to reach their writing goals.

I've developed Cocoon after talking to numerous people from all walks of life who have spoken to me about the books that they want to write and all of the fears and anxieties they have around beginning this huge feat.

My first novel, Future Feeling, was published in 2021 by Soft Skull Press and longlisted for the PEN/Hemingway Award.

“Cocoon is an incredibly welcoming and comforting space to grow (cocoon is an apt title) while also creating some structure around accountability that I find helpful.” ~ Jess, Cocoon Generator Writer
